HuBMAP Consortium Overview

The Human Biomolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP) supports and enhances understanding of the relationship between tissue organization and function. It is an innovative environment in the style of a "Google Earth" geographic information system (GIS) for the human body, integrating biomolecular, spatial, and ontological data to support multi-scale/multi-layered 3D browsing, knowledge-mining, and computational modeling. We imagine a discovery environment that compares with that of the Human Protein Atlas, strengthened further with enhanced visualization and systems-biology functions integrating data for detailed analyses and insights into tissue dynamics. We imagine user-friendly, data-manipulation interfaces that we complement with pluggable tools, benchmarked for data-source flexibility. Built-in functions allow individual researchers to export standardized resources and to import their “bring your own” (BYO) tools and data.
