HuBMAP 2023 Annual Meeting | Nashville, TN

HuBMAP will host its sixth Annual Meeting in person on May 16-18, 2023 at the Vanderbilt University Student Life Center in Nashville, TN. The Annual Meeting will provide funded members the chance to meet one another in person, share their accomplishments, and learn about the future of HuBMAP. Thank you to the Vanderbilt TMC for graciously hosting this meeting!

The meeting will include presentations, networking opportunities, and engaging breakout sessions. This is an in-person meeting. There is no virtual attendance option for this meeting.

Meeting Details

• Dates: Tuesday, May 16 to Thursday, May 18, 2023
• Times: 9am to 4pm local time, daily
• Location: Vanderbilt University Student Life Center, 310 25th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37240
• Who should attend? All projects with an active HuBMAP grant are expected to be represented.
• What sessions will I be able to participate in? A draft agenda is in google drive. 
• Do I have to present a poster? Yes! At least one member from each funded component is expected to present a poster. PI's and PM's should coordinate with group members to determine who will create and present your poster, and you can indicate this on your registration form. Posters should be 3' x 4' or they can be digital.
• I heard there is a data ingest workshop. What do I need to know about this? There is a data ingest workshop from 8am to 10am on Tuesday, May 16. This workshop is for data uploaders/wranglers, PI's, and PM's, but all are welcome.
  
  • After attending the workshop, data uploaders/wranglers will have a better understanding of entity registration (donors, samples, and datasets), metadata and directory schemas, uploading files to Globus. PIs and PMs in the audience will be more familiarized with how the various components of ingestion fit together and expected timelines/areas of responsibility for data submission stages.
• What opportunities are there for socializing with my fellow HuBMAP members? Great question! We have lots of formal and informal networking opportunities planned, including:
  • Monday night, members are encouraged to self-organize and explore Nashville together.
  • Tuesday afternoon we'll have an icebreaker activity.
  • Tuesday evening our poster session will be a great time to chat with members and learn about their work.
  • Wednesday evening all attendees will gather at the Country Music Hall of Fame for dinner and fun! (Details to follow)
  • Our meeting room will be available for members to get together and discuss collaborative opportunities, these 'free time' sessions are indicated on the agenda.
  • Vanderbilt has also provided a list of recommended restaurants in Nashville. Please note that these are not all within walking distance of the meeting venue.
